Help us to Restore the Livelihood of Akram Ali: survivor of bahraich voilence

The area was charged with tension and uncertainty when Miles2Smile entered Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. A few days ago, a violent clash had erupted in the area, claiming the life of one and inflicting injuries to many.   On entering the city, we experienced a sea of police, high security, and barricades, with tensed air sweeping to and fro. On moving further, we reached Maharajganj, Bahraich, the threshold of Akram Ali (name changed), a survivor of the violent clash.   His house, once nestled among an e-rickshaw, a blanket business, and a cosmetic shop, has now turned into a heap of ashes and burned furniture. Akram Ali, an e-rickshaw driver, spoke to Miles2Smile about the horrific event he encountered.   He reported that an angry mob, armed with torches, sticks, and other weapons, forced their way into his home and set it on fire. The mob further burned his e-rickshaw, his only source of income.  With the e-rickshaw melting, engulfed in thick black smoke and a pungent odor, his dreams also evaporated.  He further revealed that his son owned a blanket business, which the furious mob looted and set on fire after the e-rickshaw. As the vibrant colors of blankets faded to a charred, blackened mass, his son’s income also turned into ashes. Akram’s daughter-in-law owned a cosmetic shop with lipstick, bangles, and gaudy products placed beautifully in it. The mob did not spare this either. The interior, once filled with beauty products, is now a scene of destruction, with shelves collapsing and a few semi-burnt products lying on the ground.  A wave of destruction has cleared away the happiness of Akram’s family within a span of an hour. But a wave of construction can also emerge, rebuilding their lost happiness and smiles.  Miles2Smile is ready to fan a wave of construction; for that, we need Rs. 4,50,000 to purchase Akram’s e-rickshaw, rebuild his son’s blanket business, and reconstruct his daughter-in-law’s cosmetic shop.   We have decided to raise the fund, doing our part to fight the storm of misery that has swept away their happiness and dreams.   We need your help to bring their lives back to normalcy. Donate now and help us to give them their smiles back.

Help us to Restore the Livelihood of Kaleem’s survivor of bahraich voilence

A violent clash occurred during a Durga idol immersion procession in Bahraich, leading to the death of one individual and injuries to many on October 13, earlier this month. Soon the clash turned into a massive nightmare for residents, with torched properties, charred vehicles, and melting trees adding horror to it.  With news grabbing the prime time and top headlines of daily sections, revealing the dreadful glimpses of residents, Miles2Smile decided to travel to Bahraich and talk to the anguished people. We entered Bahraich, which was once famous for history, culture, and natural beauty, now a heap of shattered lives on October 18. Amidst police units, barricades, and a security checkpoint, we managed to meet the survivors of the clash. Kaleem, his  brothers and his three paternal uncles are one of them. Kaleem, a vegetable vendor, spoke to Miles2Smile about the horrific ordeal they encountered. He revealed that a furious mob armed with burning touch, sticks, and other weapons barged into his house and set it ablaze.  The burning fumes of his hard-earned assets could not melt the hearts of the mob; rather, it stimulated them to further set his vehicle and vegetables owned by Kaleem, his brothers and three of his uncles on fire.  While his vehicle was licking up the frame, consuming the rubber tires and melting the plastic components, the mob tried to cast his 6-year-old daughter into the flames.  Kaleem fortunately could protest and save his daughter, but his bike and the vegetables turned into ashes in front of his eyes. Kaleem, his brothers and his uncles were vegetable vendors; now they are incomeless. A blaze of hatred has burned the only source of income of many family members, but a blaze of love is in us too. Miles2Smile has decided to help Kaleem, his brothers  and three uncles set up their business again. For that, we need your concrete support! Help us in building their business and their only means of income. Their business needs Rs. 4,50,000 to stand again; We are ready to help him, are you?

Help us in restoring livelihood for Chand’s Family

The consistency of violence in India against Muslims has left no room for survival. Every day we encounter a new mob lynching case where brutality seems to have escalated compared to the previous one. Chand Miya Khan, a 23-year-old youth, fell prey to the same brutality earlier this year in June.  On an unfortunate day, Chand along with two of his companions drove a truck loaded with buffaloes when a mob allegedly belonging to cow vigilantes chased them. They reportedly pursued the truck for 54 km, assaulted them, and then killed them mercilessly.  While this cardinal sin blinded many people, making them act like ignorant readers of the newspapers, Miles2Smile traveled to Lakhnauti Shamli, a place where Chand spent his life.  Tears flowed, hearts sank, and our voices trembled while exchanging dialogues with the family of Chand. He was not just a member of the family who left unexpectedly. He was the happiness of the house, the solace of the family, and the soul earner. He left behind a wife whom he married seven months ago and a child who is in the womb of his wife. The child who will never experience fatherly love. With his death, poverty enveloped the house within a few days, and constant apprehension has booked a spot in the life of Chand’s pregnant wife.  Amidst the horror of Chand’s death and the rubble of his family’s happiness, Miles2Smile decided to bring their lives back to normalcy.   It is impossible to bring Chand back, but we can lessen the burden of the family. To make this possibility a reality, we have decided to take the onus of the family on our shoulders.  For that, we need the following amount  Annual Rent of the shop: Rs 6000*12= Rs 72,000 Stock maintenance: Rs 1,50,000 (one time) Medical assistance to Chand’s pregnant wife: Rs 40,000 Total: Rs 2,62,000 We are ready to help them, are you?

Help Us to restore livelihood for Saddam’s Family

"My Saddam didn't die a natural death; if he had, I would have found peace. But I feel no peace,” said the ailing mother of Saddam Qureshi (23) on speaking to Miles2Smiles. In the past few years, a significant rise in the mob lynching cases has emerged, resulting in the deaths of many innocent people, mostly belonging to the Muslim community. Saddam Qureshi belongs to one such case.   Saddam Qureshi (23) along with his two companions was traveling via private truck loaded with buffaloes when he encountered mob lynching. The mob persuaded the trio for approximately 54 km, assaulted them, killed two of Saddam’s companions on the spot, and gravely injured Saddam. Twenty-three-year-old Saddam eventually succumbed to his injuries a few days after the incident. Saddam left behind a heartbroken mother, a devastated father, and two grief-stricken sisters. The incident blurred the lives of Saddam’s family, with sadness running all across their bodies. To channelize their sadness and bring respite, Miles2Smile traveled to Shamli and listened to the heartbreaking story of Saddam’s death. "My young son, my young son was killed," Saddam's father said with eyes full of tears.   His two sisters were sitting near their father; they did not utter a word, but their faces spoke of sadness that no words can explain.  Saddam was the sole breadwinner of the family, and his death took away the ease of four people. How could we sit calmly when four innocent souls are battling a battle they don't deserve? A question circled in our minds. We immediately promised Saddam’s family to help them financially.   We made a promise that gave unbridled hope to Saddam’s family, but will we be able to fulfill this promise? Yes! But with your assistance.  To provide them with a decent livelihood, we need Rs. 1,75,000 (one-time payment) to purchase two buffaloes, which will help the family earn a decent monthly income For the family’s health and well-being: Rs. 40,000 (one-time payment) Total:  Rs. 2,15,000 We are ready to help them, are you?

Help us in restoring livelihood for a Mob lynch Survivor family

When the fresh wave of summer swept through Chhattisgarh in June, representing warmth, growth, and a new beginning, when the country was enjoying the vibrant hues of summer skies, the Muslim diaspora was reeling again. The new mob lynching news grab the top headlines, Guddu Khan (35) Saddam Qureshi (23) and Chand Miya Khan (23) were brutally killed.  The trio were reportedly pursued by a group of individuals, allegedly belonging to cow vigilantes, on suspicion of smuggling cattle. According to the reports, the mob chased the trio for approximately 54 kilometers, beaten, thrashed, assaulted, and eventually killed them.  The screams of Guddu’s kids pierced through the hearts of humanity; their ocean of tears gave shudders to the society. Gudd’s four kids (aged 10, 8, 6, and 2) lost a supportive father, his wife lost a loving husband, and the family lost the only source of income.  A few months after the incident, we visited the devastated family to hear their heart wrenching stories."Seeing the condition of these children causes a lot of pain," said Guddu’s mother, with Guddu’s youngest daughter sitting next to her.  With the brutal death of Guddu, the loss of his family still lingers and seems to linger even further. A month before Guudu’s death, his brother fell prey to the lyching, fortunately he survived.  Are we even humans if we cannot extend a helping hand? The question circled in our minds. Miles2Smile decided to answer this question and support the devastated family in all possible ways. But it seems difficult for us to do it alone; we need your help.  If the aforementioned question strikes your mind, then join us on the journey to lessen the burden of Guddu’s family. Contribute for the following cause and bring back the smiles of Guddu’s family. Education: Rs.15,000 (annually for 3 kids) Health and well-being: Rs. 30,000 ( Annually for the family) Livelihood : RS 2,50,000 Keeping in mind the suffering of Guddu’s brother, we have decided to purchase a mini truck for his brother. A significant portion of the earnings from the mini truck will be transferred to Guddu’s family, and another portion will be utilized by his brother. To purchase this mini truck, we need Rs.2,50,000 as down-payment. We are in, are you?

Help us rebuild the lost Homes in Mandla

As the fresh morning breeze of July 15 swept through Bhaiswahi, a village 30 km from Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, the howling of bulldozers, the tap-tap of boots, and the furious noise of armed paramilitary forces woke the sleeping residents. One, two, three... 16 homes were brought down by the bulldozers within the span of an hour. No one in the village dared to speak up or later comfort those who were evicted from their homes. The reason given for this brutality was cow-killing; those families were accused of storing beef in their refrigerators. After the incident, we visited the victims and heard their heart-wrenching stories of lost homes. "Every brick in our home was precious," sobbed a woman with her small children left without a roof. Her eyes cried for help—what kind of humans are we if we cannot offer a hand? We have decided to rehabilitate five of these families, doing our part to fight the storm of misery that has swept away their happiness. Cost of building 1 temporary structure= Rs 90,000 Cost of building 5 structures= Rs 4,50,000 We need your help to bring smiles back to them. Help us in providing support to Sultana Bi of Mandla, Madhya Pradesh

In the morning, she had a roof above her head, a cozy house, and a peaceful life. As soon as the darkness enveloped the night, she became roofless, homeless, and melancholy entered the fissures of her peaceful life. She’s Sultana Bi, a 34-year-old resilient woman from Bhainswahi, Mandla. On 15 June  Sultana Bi saw havoc all over her vicinity. Little did she know what her fate had to offer. Sultana saw police dragging her neighbours out of their houses, bulldozers turning their homes into dust. One by one the houses collapsed and next came Sultana’s house. Tears rolling down her eyes, she tried to resist but failed. Today she stands on a barren land, asking for justice. Raising her voice fearlessly.  Her resilience could attract Miles2Smile to travel 560 miles to reach Bhainswahi, Mandla, to talk to her. Seeing her courage, we were dumbstruck. What a powerful lady she is! But her power should not stop; Sultana Bi needs support.  To help her raise her voice, it’s our collective responsibility to provide her with basic necessities. She needs food to eat and a roof to live. Join us on Sultana’s journey and contribute your share.
